Experimental Study of Flow Around a Rotating Cylinderen_US
Experimental measurements were made of the flow field surrounding both stationary and rotating cylinder at various Reynolds numbers depending on the velocity changes. The investigation concentrated on the distribution of turbulence of fluid flow and velocity at different distances behind the rotating cylinder. The following results were reached after comparing with the theoretical model using numerical simulations to investigate fluctuations in the flow field: The velocity mutation position below the wake region moves upward as the cylinder rotates counterclockwise, but the position above stays the same due to an increase in relative speed (at the same Reynolds number). Furthermore, the velocity mutation position beneath the wake region shifts somewhat downward with increasing Reynolds numbers. Based on numerical simulations, lift force is affected by a substantial upward movement of the bottom vortex position behind the cylinder following the rotational speed. Changes in the lower vortex position have an impact on the wake region's free shear layer and lift force, especially at high Reynolds numbers.en_US
