Abstract:
While home, industrial, and power sectors in Bangladesh are seeing a rise in natural gas
demand, natural gas output is progressively decreasing. In Bangladesh, the energy
regulatory body has made the decision to stop supplying natural gas to the domestic market
and instead purchase liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from a few private enterprises. To
supply gas for cocking and other domestic uses, a large housing project established an LPG
reticulation system for the building and apartments. The Jolshiri Abason project would have
20 sectors, each with an estimated 2243 acres of land where 8795 plots and 96745
apartments will be built. A controlled, regulated, and secure network for the transmission
and distribution of liquefied petroleum gas has been built in this research for three sectors,
including the development of 1210 and the construction of 13310 apartments. Each
apartment will have gas provided, mostly for the purpose of cooking for six people.
Bangladeshi dishes including rice, curry, vegetables, and other meals have been considered
to be prepared in each apartment. To cook daily meals in each apartment, the total energy
required is estimated to be 29,406 KJ, equivalent to 0.6 kg of LPG, and the heating power
of the burner is considered to be 6 KW so that the meal can be boiled completely. At the
time of selection, the amount of electricity to be supplied is 79,860 KJ/S (KW) for 13,310
apartments. To supply this amount of energy through the gas transmission and distribution
network, 6,249.91 kg/h of LPG must be vaporized and transmitted to the gas transmission
and distribution network. 2.60 MMSCFD gas is required for three sectors. In total, about
18.90 MMSCFD of gas is required for the entire Jolshiri field project, spread over an area
of about 2,243 acres divided into 20 zones comprising 8,795 plots and 96,745 apartments.
Gas is intended to be transported via the gas transmission and distribution network at a rate
of 20.00 MMSCFD. The line pipe sizes that are intended are 200DN, 150DN, 100DN, and
50DN. 40 is the chosen line pipe schedule in accordance with ASTM A53 of grade B. The
line pipe's estimated design pressure is 1474.74 psi.
