Abstract:
The project aims to design a dynamic and inclusive cultural hub situated in the burgeoning
urban landscape of Purbachal, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
This undergraduate thesis endeavors to address the growing need for communal spaces that
foster cultural exchange and expression in rapidly expanding cities. Grounded in principles
of architectural innovation and cultural sustainability, the project explores the integration of
traditional Bengali cultural elements with modern design concepts to create a versatile
environment for artistic endeavors, performances, exhibitions, and community gatherings.
Through the idea of a shaded space housing various activities within it, the thesis seeks to
conceptualize a vibrant center that not only celebrates Bangladesh's rich cultural heritage
but also serves as a catalyst for social cohesion and creative engagement within the local
community.
The center should be a combination of landscape and urban space. Designed as a public
exhibition and community building, integrating a high variety of programs and functions.
The Atrium and Outer Sculpture Gardens of the building can be used as a venue for
performance, exhibition, and colorful festival events of our country.
Keeping the main priorities in expansion of the Satellite Town Purbachal by incorporating
sustainable practices, and prioritizing accessibility, the project endeavors to contribute to
the cultural vitality and urban resilience of Dhaka's evolving cityscape.
